Jeremy Scott | New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012

Jeremy Scott never shies away from prints and patterns, and in preparation for next Spring/Summer season, there’s no change. Presenting a collection full of vintage and western inspiration, the effervescent designer shows us once more that he’s going for the kill.  The show opened with what looked like a ‘Denim Fever’ as models tromped down the runway wearing the likes of denim skirts, denim jumpsuits, and denim bra-tops. As for the men, a pair of denim shorts topped by a denim vest came down the runway, along with a fun pair of denim Dungarees.  Jeremy soon moved into his sleek selection of body hugging dresses, one boldly carrying an overall reoccurring pattern of the labels sunglasses collection.  Moving towards the sea and sand, a swimsuit came down the runway and instead of being covered in the usual print of flowers, there were cactus all over.  This along with fringed clothing made the western influence noticeable, and to make things a bit louder a model strutted down the runway wearing a belt which carried to gun pouches on each side.  As usual, the collection was filled with lots of skin and male models like Sebastian Sauve and Travis Cannata, seemed to be bearing it all.  Denim, fringe, leather, cactus and cow patterns, seemed to be enough to get Scott’s point across, and once again Jeremy Scott showed why youthful and fun collections are filled with creativity and style. I really loved the shoes by the way! 😀 Check out my favorite looks below, along with the entire collection.

Narciso Rodriguez | New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012

We all know Narciso Rodriguez isn’t an overdone and bold designer, so what else to we expect but another great minimal and well-crafted collection from the style genius himself. However, in preparation for next season’s load of color and bold patterns, Narciso ups his collection a bit, and fuses his perfectly subtle designs with a bold spew of color and patterns.  First of all, the models were topped with perfectly slicked back hair, dyed in tones of  copper, green, purple, blue, yellow, orange and white.  Upon opening, one would think that the show would take its usual form of minimalism, however Rodriguez being inspired by Korean artist Kim Joon, the collection soon took a turn to show a graffiti of patterns and vivid color blocking.  I loved the way he utilized the sheer fabric, which obviously under-layered by skin, showed a great contrast against the color.  Light tones of blue lent itself to the calmness of the collection, while bold pops of orange proved to bring a loudness to it. There were asymmetric cuts everywhere, in my opinion adding to the chicness of the collection, but ending on a light note, I think it was an incredible collection that ranks high on my list of favorites for New York Fashion Week. Check out the looks I love below, along with all the show photos.

Hervé Léger by Max Azria | New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012

Presenting a show full of models clad in the usual Hervé Léger style of bandage dresses, Max Azria took the label to another level for the Spring/Summer 2012 season, clashing together warrior chic elements and a tribal motif.  Models strutted down the runway, all wearing the gorgeous body hugging dresses and edgy evening dresses juxtaposed with knee-high gladiator boots. Metallic tones of gold, silver and black came along with a simple color palette of white, black and desert brown. Fringed dresses that seem to carry an upbeat and ‘full of attitude’ feel ended the show with a great presence. As always, the bandage and armor like dresses of Hervé Léger didn’t fail to impress me, but to with such a strong reoccurring ‘trend’ for a label, it makes the collection somewhat predictable.  It wasn’t that huge of a favorite for me, but I definitely like it. Check out my favorite looks from the show, along with all the show looks below.

Tommy Hilfiger | New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012

The female counterparts trotted down the runway yesterday, and with looks proving to be just as good as the men’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection, they certainly got my stamp of approval. Channeling his overall Spring theme and continually remaining in his long-time vein of all-american prep, he presented the exact opposite, to the men’s collection that showcased on Friday. That’s right, a spew of color, camo, horizontal stripes, chunky sweaters and leather all paced the floor at the show. What seemed to be new however, was a great deal of tartan outfits that sauntered down the runway upon the show’s opening, along with sophisticated jumpsuits with bold lapels, and colorful Kaftans fit for the beach. I was amused by the stunning swimwear which came color blocked and one-shouldered, then a striking mix of fuchsia camouflage. Accessories were more than present, as models wore lovely pairs of sunglasses and clutched large handbags with similar prints,  and smaller two-tone clutch bags. Once again, Mr. Hilfiger comes strong, proving to me why he is one of my favorite designers.  Check out my favorites below, as well as the entire collection. DKNY | New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012

Summertime fabulous is the only term I can find to describe the hot designs that had the runway burning up today at Donna Karan’s Spring/Summer 2012 show. A substantial deal of color was the hype at today’s show, as all the models strutted down the concrete runway topped by wide-brimmed hats, for the extreme summer heat. The collection seemed to focus on sexy feminine looks, perfect for New York’s average woman on the go.  Opening the collection was a variety of minimal looks featuring neutral tones like black and navy blue, some in the shape of a blazer-dress which interestingly seemed fit for the professional along with some draping silhouettes free in their flow. After this, came the mega-surge of color and print. A pants suit completely covered in blue and red flowers, was accessorized with a bag, hat and stunner pumps all plastered with the same print and boasting loads of attitude. Lightening up a bit, Donna threw in some shorts, summer windbreakers, horizontally striped ensembles, then tweed suit for the perfect femme.  What seemed to be a mixture of animal prints covered the runway in green, transitioning to black, then to sheer looks in desert tones. Absolutely stunning! I’m sure that stylish women all of the world are ready to take this collection by storm. Check out my favorite looks from the show, as well as the entire collection below.

Alexander Wang | New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012

Alexander Wang is such a genius – As he presented his Spring/Summer 2012 collection yesterday at New York Fashion Week, unlike other designers who had earlier taken a bold take on athletic or sporty themes, Wang subtly fused the theme with his already upscale street-wear aesthetic, and goes for inspiration found on the BMX, Motocross and NASCAR tracks.  In opening, female models with their hands tucked into the pockets of mesh pants wore constantly appearing mesh tops which were under-layered with what seemed to be colored shirts. Alexander then displayed how he creatively applied floral patterns to his amazing  street-wear, showing a great deal of body-hugging dresses, rompers and jumpsuits; all having their little touch of mesh and some topped off with a biker helmet as an accessory.  Tribal prints took their place as stadium maps, atop the most gorgeous of pieces including jersey jumpsuits and sheer jerseys. As it related to shoes, all the models wore chic pointed-toe pumps, which came in black and white.  This is what I call a refreshing collection, something new, innovative and inspiring. Seems like next season, mesh will be a huge trend, especially since Dolce & Gabbana already dished the male counterparts to the mesh trend in Milan earlier this season. Check out my collection favorites below, along with all photos from the show.

Christian Siriano | New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012

One show I can never miss every season, is that of Project Runway’s Season 4 winner Christian Siriano; who to this date, I believe is the best designer who was a product of that show.  Today at New York Fashion Week, Siriano took to his inspiration of underwater specimens, and presented once more a collection which radiated extreme feminine elegance and chicness. In addition,he effortlessly pulled off some of next season’s already reoccurring trends, like prints and patterns, as well as horizontal stripes.  The collection was made up utilizing a palette of neon colors, like green and orange, also giving space to some grays, blues and all-white looks. On opening  he paired a beautiful body fitting dress that flounced at the floor, with a minimal t-shirt that made the two a perfect match. With fabrics like chiffon, crepe and organza, he continued to show his creative styling and paired wide-legged drawstring pants with sleeveless button-up shirts.  Nearing the end of the show, Christian’s usual ruffled and frilled ensembles took center stage, when a spew of gorgeous cocktail dresses, gowns, and flowing skirts came sauntering down the runway. With summertime indeed in mind, Christian has once again blown away the masses with his gorgeous collection.  Check out my favorites from the show, along with the entire collection below.
