Trend Report | The Lace Obsession

To this day no other Trend Report has surpassed the great Denim Jacket post, but I decided to take to the computer and spill the beans on something I’ve seen before, but it has once again returned. I’ve never done a female specific Trend Report, and this article may somehow fall into that category easily.  Like most fashion bloggers and writers, I’m quite up-to-date on fashion’s current movements and changes. Whether it’s been on the Haute Couture runways of Paris or on the street, anyone in fashion can admit that lace, with its strong femininity is trending. If there’s any fabric which can totally define the delicate yet striking nature of women it would have to be lace. Now honestly, I’m not trying to promote what people may see as “nakedness” but I see nothing fashionably wrong with throwing on some chic lace over an incredible under-layer to handle the summer heat. As said before,  this isn’t the first time it’s been popping up; however, balance is incredibly important to retain the vintage or antique feel and poise to the incredible fabric.  It’s ideal to not go overboard or become suggestive, but to remain romantic and classy. Famous lace wearers include my dear beloved Anna Dello Russo, and it’s been on the runway of Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Valentino, Elie Saab and that of tons more designers. Now let’s show you girls how to rock lace with elegance and style.

My Summer Dream…

So I finally decided to get outside, moving away from the usual ‘in bed feel’ or even in the office. I work constantly and to add to that, I work extremely hard. Nevertheless, I took up my Armani Exchange Duffel Bag, and my amazing Ray-Ban Clubmasters and headed to the beach in order to take some shots for Lookbook.nu and some others to be used in the press.

La Mode Street Style

I made a choice today to finally post Street Style after the much anticipated column on hadn’t been posted much over the last month. Of course if you’ve been reading all my posts, you’d understand the fact that these days I’ve been extremely busy working on fashion projects, as well as the advancement of my personal style and my blog. I am incredibly eager to travel this summer and leading up to the day I actually leave Barbados, tons of planning must go into consider in order to pull off the best round of trips, while keeping you guys up to date. Today’s compilation of street style consists of some of my ultimate favorite looks for the general summer 2011 season. So take a scroll, and then comment and share your ideas or views. I don’t think most readers of blogs understand how much we love your feedback, since it opens us to different points of views and also creates conversation with the ‘people’ on the other side of my screen.

I love this classic female silhouette which is layered with a colorful tee underneath and a great fedora.

I could not get over this look at all, and for me, I had to find a similar look to wear sometime this summer. I love the chic addition of the foulard, as well as the well colored brogues.

Very cute.

A leather jacket and a red chino was definitely on my style lookbook list, and then here it pops up, backed by a denim shirt and a great mind like Mochine’s.

I love the bright colored snake skin skirt.

Of course very classic.

No one should be afraid to pull off an all black look this summer.

Love this basic look.

Sequin vest.

More strips and layers.

Short shorts!

Light colors and neutrals are also an options since we saw them on many of this season’s runway shows last year.

This is look is just too hot for words.

When I saw this, my jaw dropped, why? I can’t say as yet, but you guys will see soon. 😉

Killer heels, and epic sunglasses.

I really love the fit of this polka-dot shirt,  and with the use of the yellow watch and duffel bag.

Simply fierce.

This too, like the look thr photos above made my mouth drop open. I absolutely love it, and I’m sure that you’ll love what you will see very soon.

The head turban along with the polka-dotted skirt are definitely the highlights of this chic get-up.

Prada Brogues are mostly all that I dream of now. But I assure you that I’ll have them this summer, for sure!

H&M Swim Campaign | Sean O’Pry

My first ever model favorite Sean O’Pry, who is currently ranked number 2 in the world of male models, takes a step back into the spot light and does a stunning job for H&M’s 2011 Swim Campaign.  Clad in amazing swimwear boasting most of all summer color, he presents a joyous summer feel, backed by blue Caribbean waters and white sand.

Elie Saab Le Parfum Campaign | Anja Rubik

Elie Saab is the complete definition of romance and femininity, locked inside the amazing red carpet looks that walk the runway every fashion season. Taking it a big step further, the label now locks it’s amazing scents inside an intricately designed bottle that screams beauty and poise. Anja Rubik takes on the major role as the feminine stunner bringing the fragrance to life. The campaign photo which was shot by Mert & Marcus captures Anja in a cascading gown standing as the light among darkness. The fragrance is set to hit store shelves in July, and I can already tell that it is going to be a big hit.

Freedom Reigns

The Fall/Winter season is about to be gone, and I am just about ready to make a big splash into the summer 2011 season. Trust me, they are tons of great things in store for me, and of course in turn my blog.  Waking up this morning, I felt amazing to think first of all that I had another opportunity to be alive, and secondly, the semester is finally over. All my exams are done and now I’m free! Well, at least from school. No longer will I have to endure the pain of sitting in a cold room filled with smart students alike me, with a pen and paper writing my butt off. I think this was a tiring but great semester and year, as I’ve grown extensively and learned just about everything I need to get me to the end of 2011. I already predicted from the last day of 2010 that this would have been a great year, and I can already see the definition of that word unfolding in my life. I’m currently planning my busy schedule for summer, and I guarantee that you’ll be on the amazing journey with me this season. Getting personal with my blog is an ultimate goal of mine, and big plans are set for everything to come lashing your way this summer.

Today I’m ready to show you some summer inspired photos, so let’s enjoy some color and get ready for an amazing season!

Arlenis Sosa | Yo Dona | May 2011 Issue

Taking today’s glimpse back into the editorial world, I bring to you an amazing spread, which in my opinion captures everything summer is and more. Bringing the stunning Caribbean born Arlenis Sosa to center stage, Yo Dona magazine which is based in Spain releases their May 2011 issue. The black beauty who is ranked #25 in the top 50 female models, shows her stunning dark skin tone, that clad her precise and curvy body. Styled by Amparo Utrilla and shot by Miguel Reveriego the model dons a great variety of colorful swim wear, bold accessories all back by a tropical atmosphere.
