Models of the Moment | Current Favorites

Being busy and not knowing what to post to my blog is a horrible combination. I got up quite late this morning and sat wondering what I should publish today and at one point I just didn’t think I should post anything. But… after browsing the web for a bit, I decided I would give to you a round-up of 5 of my favorite models, both male and female.  With number 1 standing on their own, the other four of each category are in no particular order and of course it was hard to put this together since they’re so much great models out there whom I respect and love.

Male Favorite | Robert Evans

Female Favorite | Lara Stone

From Top Left: Lindsey Wixson | Liu Wen | Jourdan Dunn | Chanel Iman

Behind the Lens | Dimitris Theocharis

So I’ve finally decided to launch the new column on my blog, which comes after much work and anticipation. I was pretty excited for it, and with the first series out, I can’t wait for you guys to see all that’s in store. For quite some time now, this incredible man has made his way on to my short list of favorite fashion photographers, and gladly, I had the opportunity to get to know him a bit more. With photography that in my opinion inspires many with his creative approach, I’ve grown to appreciate all the hard work that he puts in, to achieve results which are beyond amazing! One thing I’ve realized over the last few months is that more and more people are entering the world of photography, in search of success, and some aren’t putting in effort at all. Nonetheless, (like someone at an editorial meeting said yesterday) “one can definitely separate the sheep from the goats.”  With his Hasselblat H3D 39, Dimitris has captured the covers of many magazines, editorial spreads with some of fashion’s biggest models and has been a Tumblr phenomenon.  Having photographed some of my favorite models including Rob Evans, Marlon Teixeira, Tony Ward, Baptiste Giabiconi and Leebo Freeman, he has made more than a name for himself within the fashion industry, and whether in New York, Paris or back home in London, he’s always keeping us on the edge with his stunning photography.

So Dimitris, how old are you and where are you from?

I am 33, and was born in San Jose, California, but was brought up in Chalkis, Greece. In 1995 I then moved to England to study and I’ve stayed here since. Where am I from? The truth is that I feel equally at home in London, where I work from, California, where I have many friends and family, and in my spiritual home, Greece, where the light and the food are unbeatable.

Sweet! When did your individual interests in fashion, and photography spark?

I developed a passion for the visual arts and more specifically drawing and painting whilst I was still at school in Greece. Whilst still a teenager I created my first studio in the basement of my family home and I would spend Read the rest of this entry

Models of the Moment | Milan Menswear Spring/Summer 2012

Milan Menswear shows bring a spew of male models down the runway every season. After another succesful and well packaged collection season, I thought it fitting to share with you my favorite models who appeared on the runways of some of those very collections. My favorites this time around seemed to be Keith Hernadez who walked for Bottega Veneta and Dolce and Gabbana. He is one that I expect to see much more from, this coming week in Paris. David Agbodji who walked for the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Missoni, Corneliani and Bottega Veneta.  Zakaria Khiare who walked for Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Z by Zegna and Trussardi 1911. And finally Marlon Teixeira, who walked for the Armani pair: Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani, along with Iceberg and Ermanno Scervino.

São Paulo Fashion Week Spring 2012 | Reserva

The last show for the first day of São Paulo Fashion Week, was none other than the amazing menswear designs of Reserva. Described by fantastic and beautiful by my eyes on the inside, the show was opened and closed by my very own favorite from Brazil, Marlon Teixeira. From the looks of it, a summer in Cuba was a huge influence, as many cigars and bold prints flooded the show, as well as cool leather sandals which clad the feet of the male models. Without a doubt in my mind, this is my favorite show thus far, obviously because it was a menswear show, but more so because of its great deal of versatility and essential summer pieces. Linen was probably the most used fabric throughout all the looks, but also featured were twill and denim.  White literally washed the collection and I absolutely loved the baggy pants going along with colored jackets and cool tees. Check out my favorite looks along with all the collection photos below.
