Known as the biggest model to land out of Asia, Liu Wen was born January 27th, 1988 in Yongzhou, a city in the Hunan Province of China. Before she became a model, Wen worked as a tour guide and her modelling began in 2005 when she entered the ‘New Silk Road World Model Contest,’ which was previously won by her fellow Asian model and international Covergirl Du Juan. Although she did not win, she began working as a model after the contest and became a national success when she landed on the cover of ‘Chinese For Him Magazine.’ After this she began to establish her career with the Chinese editions of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and then she broke onto the international stage in Paris during the Spring 2008 season, where she was signed to Marilyn Management and walked for Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier. From that time on, she has been a huge success and in 2009 appeared in seven major campaigns including DKNY Jeans, Barneys New York, Converse, Benetton, Alexander Wang, THE GAP and cK One. She has been on the world runways of New York, Milan and Paris walking a total of 49 shows for the Autumn/Winter 2010 season including Rodarte, Derek Lam, Michael Kors, Carolina Herrera, Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, Fendi, Bottega Veneta, Salvatore Ferragamo and Balenciaga and shooting editorials with the world’s top fashion photographers including Patrick Demarchelier, Mario Sorrenti, Terry Richardson and Dan Jackson.
Liu Wen recently appeared on the cover of Chinese Vogue and in editorials for W as well as the French, Japanese and Chinese editions of Vogue.
