Postscards from New York Fashion Week (Day 3)

Yesterday was an incredibly busy day of shows, and my favorite collections came from Lacoste, Prabal Gurung, Christian Siriano and Alexander Wang.  As it relates to Prabal Gurung, although I did no review, the collection was absolutely stunning. Zooming in on floral patterns, Gurung used tones of lavender to create the most amazing of dresses and gowns for which he known.

As I have for the last few days of fashion week, I bring you once again Postcards from New York Fashion Week shot by none other than the amazing Adrian Richards. Our eyes on the street captured the action both inside and outside of  Prabal Gurung, Helmut Lang, Christian Siriano, as well as the runway at VPL.  Familiar faces included stylist Rachel Zoe, Vogue Editor-at-Large André Leon Talley, The Anna duo once again fellow bloggers Susie Bubble and Bryan, and models like Karlie Kloss and Abiah Hostvedt.  See Photo Collection

Azzedine Alaïa Haute Couture | Paris Fall 2011 Couture

With a collection filled with intricate designs, impeccable tailoring and the stunning supermodels of the industry like Karlie Kloss and Arizona Muse, Azzedine Alaïa presented a gorgeous collection yesterday at Paris Fashion Week which left the audience in awe, with loud cheers and a standing ovation.  Being his first show in eight years, the Tunisian born designer,  who is described as the “King of Couture” built his collection with strong feminine silhouettes, utilizing fabrics like croc-leather, velvet and knit in his effort to beautify women. I am still swooning over the amazing designs which all have a clean and effortless finish to them, but are still each complicated in their own way. The shoes, alike the dresses, skirt suits, and dress-coats were all simply dazzling, having that Alaïa touch of glamour and craft to them. The show ended of course with his jaw-dropping evening gowns, which all had their own ‘edge’ as they were finished with ruffles and triangular leaf-like pieces embellishing them. Although the show was of high exclusivity, in that no one could have used iPhones or Cameras, it was said to be the best of the Haute Couture shows, and definitely ended the week in fine style. Check out my favorite looks from the show, along with the entire collection below.

Christian Dior Haute Couture | Paris Fall 2011 Couture

After seeing this collection, which is being classed as confusing and horrible by most voices in the fashion world, I can surely say that Dior is in need of John Galliano badly!  I can’t say straight up that it was a bad collection, because some interesting elements such as the architectural inspiration definitely worked in a futuristic sense. However, where styling is concerned, the layers were piled in such a comical and displeasing manner. Nevertheless… let’s get down to my review.

Filled with pastel colors, whimsical and mosaic patterns, architectural inspiration, shapes and both edgy and girly designs, fashion house Christian Dior, currently headed by Susanna Venegas and Bill Gaytten, presented some confusing haute couture today in Paris. Seemingly inspired by clowns, (lol) the makeup was as always bold, and the clothes and shoes were filled with lots of color, patterns and shapes. Organza along shiny, shimmery fabrics all sauntered down the runway made into the over-exaggerated pieces. Check out my favorite (if any) pieces below, and then take a look at the entire collection.

Although the final piece worn by Karlie Kloss was my favorite gown of the show, the accessory which was worn around her neck solidified the clownish factor in the show.

Dior Campaign | Spring 2011

Model-stunner Karlie Kloss, joins forces with photographer Steven Meisel to create an amazing campaign for Dior with an vintage theme, which I haven’t seen in a while. Backed by Turquoise, Karlie shines in the most sultry of tropical looks with bold patterns, prints and accessories, while the while in the element on logs and boat-rope. The sailor is definitely ready for the Spring/Summer 2011 and without a doubt, I love the campaign.

John Galliano RTW | Paris Fashion Week Fall 2011

Because of horrible internet service at my house, I had to wait until I got to school to post this, but let’s just be glad it’s here.

Presenting a total of 20 looks, John Galliano who is facing a bunch of controversy at this point because of his racial and anti-Semitic remarks, presented a great collection with his exquisite touch of glamour and amazing silhouettes! After a load of confusion on whether to cancel the show totally or not, John still had a great turnout of supporters and the small yet chic presentation was ranked high in my books. Comprised of plaid, fur, organza and silk the collection was in tip-top shape and had an exclusive revised 70’s touch of Galliano. Check out the amazing show below along with my favorites.

Karlie Kloss in an amazing John Galliano dress that is sure to be on the wish list of many A-listers.

Christian Dior Paris Haute Couture | Spring 2011 Couture

Just fierce is what I call this collection for Christian Dior by John Galliano. I am indeed impress with all the intricate designs that were showcased in this collection. Every piece has something special about it, and the commencement of the show with hot red was destined. All the models from Karlie Kloss to Liu Wen, definitely shone in the looks which brought me to the 60’s era where woman dressed to kill in the elegant of outfits. Here are my favorite looks along with all the show photos.
