Plus-Size Models covering Vogue Italia?

I am quite sure that the entire world is aware of the fact that the fashion industry is changing day by day. I too see it changing right before my eyes, and it’s honestly changing for the better. More and more are we seeing a huge growth in independent designers, not only designing general products, but bringing products of a high value and standard to the market. Acceptance has always been a big issue in the industry, and this may have been shown through elements like racism or discrimination of size and social status. But let’s not forget what fashion is, simply the expression of one’s feelings, through the use of clothing and accessories, and with this, every one has the freedom of expression. The June 2011 cover of Italia – shown to the left- has been on the lips of many fashion enthusiasts across the world, and for the most part, it has gotten good reviews. What’s so different about it? Well, if I can be completely straight here, let’s ask ourselves when last we’ve seen a magazine cover with something other than an anorexic or close-to-anorexic model, with cascading hair and flawless skin. Probably once in a lifetime. But who cares! I’m glad to see something different for a change, knowing very well that change is always for the better, and is very much so inevitable. Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawley all look great in their lingerie, cheers to Vogue Italia.

La Mode Dimitri | Fashion Rocks

Everyone seems to be clad in the fashion of Antonio Cumberbatch; first sauntering down the runway, then myself and now the fashionable rock chick Tiffany Tilman.  Styled by myself and shot by the amazing Mikey Rap, the Barbadian actor and fashion enthusiast took to the microphone to air her views and show off her ever-present edginess. With wires roaming across the set and speakers to blaze the hottest tunes, we can see that this ginger-haired beauty is definitely ready to take the world by storm. Check out some of the shots from the incredible spread below and more on Mikey’s blog.

Hours before the action went down, we were both running around getting the final look together, and I can definitely say that the AC corset and Bordello shoes were all stunning!

Trend Report | Summer’s Bright Colors

What’s up guys!? I’m extremely glad to be posting this article which I wrote a couple of days ago, since I’ve been really busy and working hard on other projects plus getting prepped for my exams. I would be completely honest right now and tell you guys that I’m actually guilty of having a lack of color in my wardrobe, and for some reason I just happen to have a large selection of black & white, along with some reds, blues and neutral tones. However, with this summer swinging in, I’ll definitely be dropping by my favorite stores and shops to get some hyper colors, like green, electric blue and yellow etc. As this season has been slowly approaching, I’ve been seeing lots of my fellow bloggers, along with many fashion enthusiasts boasting tons of colorful outfits which may have consisted of some Jil Sander blue/pink-Sole lace ups, a beautiful pair of  Tod’s loafers, a glamorous pair of Prada Brogues or some colorful spring scarves from Hermes. In that list, apart from compiling my basic wish list for this season, I’ve given you a choose of some of the best color filled essentials that I love. Oh, and by the way H&M – which is indeed every fashionista’s favorite shop – has a huge selection of various colorful pieces, like cardigans, dresses,  chinos and cropped or tank tops. As they say, pictures are definitely worth a thousand words, so check out my findings from the street.

This lime green Ralph Lauren shirt, topped off with an orange Burberry sweater makes another one of Filipo’s amazing outfits.

Neutral color jeans are evidently a thing of the past…so make sure you have your colored chinos, and jeans out this summer!

Victoria Beckham | Fashionista

Having a friend who talks never resoundingly about her obsession with Victoria Beckham, partially made me write this post. The other reason on my part, is simply because Victory Beckham is one of the few fierce and drop-dead gorgeous Caucasian women there are out there. I remember briefly seeing images of here scattered around the web and I basically knew about her obsession with eccentric style and fashion, but never have I found the time to dive into her beauty and explore what I know today as one of the amazing style icons there is in today’s world.

Yesterday while sitting in my barber’s chair, I was flipping through the October 2009 Issue of Elle Magazine where ‘Vicky’ had the cover feature and a spread of photos which I just couldn’t take my eyes off of. Victory Beckham who is almost on the lips of all fashion lovers brought her first collection to the runway during the Spring 2009 season and continues in greatness after releasing her latest collection, Fall 2011 on February 13th at New York Fashion Week.

The star-studded icon, wife and mother of three sons was born on the 17th of April, 1974, and is luckily married to the equally successful football star, David Beckham. Victoria, who is a native of Harlow, Essex was apparently inspired by watching 1980 musical fame and she is currently characterized as a singer/songwriter, actress, dancer, model, businesswoman and fashion designer.  Beckham has become better recognised as an international style icon, rather than a music artist. Beckham made a guest appearance on the catwalk for Maria Grachvogel in 2000, marking her debut as a model at London Fashion Week. Beckham also acted as a British ambassador for Dolce and Gabbana and was briefly the face of Rocawear in 2003. Beckham designed a limited-edition fashion line for Rock & Republic called VB Rocks in 2004, consisting mainly of jeans for the high-end of the market, retailing at approximately $300 in the US. On 16 January 2006, Beckham walked the runway for Roberto Cavalli at Milan Fashion Week, and was for a period exclusively dressed by him for red-carpet and social events.  For the March 2006 issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Beckham acted as fashion editor when she styled her close friend, Katie Holmes, for a fashion shoot.  In July 2006, Beckham released a line of sunglasses, called dvb Eyewear. She has admitted to a personal love of sunglasses, saying “I’m quite obsessed with sunglasses. I collect vintage Guccis and Carreras — they can make virtually any outfit look cool. I can personally agree to that statement as I am too a sunglasses freak! However nevertheless, whatever she does we can all admit that she is a hot Fashionista! Read the rest of this entry

Emporio Armani | Milan Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011

Was it just me or did Giorgio Armani present every single look in black!? Well it surely worked and the collection that was presented was extremely exquisite and sophisticated. From the sunglasses to the bags which some of the models wore, everything was done with intricate detailing and a great amount of style. All the models ‘tromped’ down the runway wearing flats and the combination looks of relaxed and luxury, some looks took on the more tailored inspiration will some were simply chic, elegant and with that ultimate feminine silhouette. Yes, as said above it was all black -well apart from the little pops of silver, blue and green- but nevertheless it was an awesome show. Check out my favorites below along with the photos of the entire collection.

Trend Report | Spring/Summer 2011 Essentials

What’s up guys!? I hope everyone is doing great, cause I surely am (Even though I am trying to control how horribly busy I am these days.) Nonetheless, after asking my Facebook friends what they thought my next Trend Report should be on I got tons of responses and really couldn’t decide which one to write about. But, after some reasoning, I decided to prep you for the upcoming Spring/Summer season and run you through trends that will be blowing up the fashion scene and some old ones that will be returning to dominate. So bundling all the ideas my awesome friends put together, I’ll be starting with Turbans, Headscarves and Sunglasses, then moving on to Tank Tops, Harem Pants and Shorts, and finally Sandals. All in all, I’ll be putting together an entire Summer look and blending the essentials for the stylish man and woman right here on La Mode Dimitri.
