Postscards from New York Fashion Week (Day 3)

Yesterday was an incredibly busy day of shows, and my favorite collections came from Lacoste, Prabal Gurung, Christian Siriano and Alexander Wang.  As it relates to Prabal Gurung, although I did no review, the collection was absolutely stunning. Zooming in on floral patterns, Gurung used tones of lavender to create the most amazing of dresses and gowns for which he known.

As I have for the last few days of fashion week, I bring you once again Postcards from New York Fashion Week shot by none other than the amazing Adrian Richards. Our eyes on the street captured the action both inside and outside of  Prabal Gurung, Helmut Lang, Christian Siriano, as well as the runway at VPL.  Familiar faces included stylist Rachel Zoe, Vogue Editor-at-Large André Leon Talley, The Anna duo once again fellow bloggers Susie Bubble and Bryan, and models like Karlie Kloss and Abiah Hostvedt.  See Photo Collection

Alexander Wang | New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012

Alexander Wang is such a genius – As he presented his Spring/Summer 2012 collection yesterday at New York Fashion Week, unlike other designers who had earlier taken a bold take on athletic or sporty themes, Wang subtly fused the theme with his already upscale street-wear aesthetic, and goes for inspiration found on the BMX, Motocross and NASCAR tracks.  In opening, female models with their hands tucked into the pockets of mesh pants wore constantly appearing mesh tops which were under-layered with what seemed to be colored shirts. Alexander then displayed how he creatively applied floral patterns to his amazing  street-wear, showing a great deal of body-hugging dresses, rompers and jumpsuits; all having their little touch of mesh and some topped off with a biker helmet as an accessory.  Tribal prints took their place as stadium maps, atop the most gorgeous of pieces including jersey jumpsuits and sheer jerseys. As it related to shoes, all the models wore chic pointed-toe pumps, which came in black and white.  This is what I call a refreshing collection, something new, innovative and inspiring. Seems like next season, mesh will be a huge trend, especially since Dolce & Gabbana already dished the male counterparts to the mesh trend in Milan earlier this season. Check out my collection favorites below, along with all photos from the show.

Cheniér Shinyéy | Style Icon

Over a week ago, I got a chance to chat with the incredible stylist Ugo Mozie after my Style Icon column, and many other aspects of my blog, were down for a while. I felt really good to get it back up and running, since I have great joy in presenting to you some of the most stylish men, and women. With yet another interview coming in this weekend, I have made some big changes in the way I present my interviews, bringing in  more attractive elements and graphics. Luckily, for me, these people remain in my life and of course influence me in great ways, in becoming as versatile as possible with whatever I wear and in turn, recognized and successful. On the note of versatility, I had a another great opportunity to meet and be-friend another man who will definitely play an integral role in upholding style in his city, while looking towards a successful future as an entrepreneur and fashionisto. His name defines it all, and after talking to Cheniér Shinyéy, his resounding class and sophistication never left my mind.

Definitely words of inspiration and photos to tell a story of the stylish life he lives. I love the Turban displayed above along with the poise and sophistication that echoes throughout all my selected images. To get more of Chenier, visit his Tumblr and follow him on Twitter.
