I have always admired this stunning model who is just amazingly beautiful and ageless. Born on July 25th 1955 in Mogadishu, Somalia, Iman is 55 and stands as one of the pioneers in the field of ethnic cosmetics, modelling and she is also noted for her charitable work.
While still in university, Iman was discovered by American photographer Peter Beard and subsequently moved to The United States to begin her modelling career. Her first modeling assignment was for Vogue which was a year later in 1976 after this she landed some of the most prestigious magazine covers, establishing herself as a supermodel. With her long neck, tall, thin frame, fine features, naturally straight hair, copper-toned skin, and exotic accent, Iman was an instant success in the fashion world, though she herself insists that her looks are merely or typically Somali.
She became a muse for many prominent designers, including Gianni Versace, Calvin Klein, Issey Miyake, Donna Karan, and in particular, Yves Saint Laurent. She is currently signed to One Management Models in New York and to Independent Models in London.
I believe that she is “the” real black supermodel in fashion and she is extremely beautiful for her age. In Barbados, you can catch a campaign with her in Cave Shepard department store…. Just sayin’ 🙂
Most ladies most hope they look this good at 55, but the hard work really pays off. Sorry but I really couldn’t find any runway photos, butI’m sure all of you grasp the beauty that I was talking about. 🙂
